Marcala
The lush, green hills and mountains that surround the town of Marcala are home to Central America's first Denomination of Origin Seal for the rich, prized coffee they produce. Deep in the Guajiquiro cloud forest, broadleaf trees soar skyward above moss and orchids.
The El Jilguero Reserve near Marcala is one of the premier birding sites in Honduras, offering access to pristine cloud forest with an exceptional list of highland species. The reserve is named after the Slate-colored Solitaire, locally known as "jilguero."

La Esperanza
La Esperanza is the capital of Intibucá department and one of the highest cities in Honduras at approximately 1,700 meters elevation. The city is the heart of Lenca indigenous culture and is known for its colorful markets, traditional crafts, and the nearby Intibucá cloud forests.
The surrounding pine-oak and cloud forests provide excellent habitat for highland species, and the area is an important stronghold for several range-restricted birds.
